Anyone?
I am a log home restorer/refinisher , we are into blasting , brushing , sanding , recoating , rot repair and chinking of log homes in southern BC Canada.
I would like to communicate with others in the buisness just to compare notes such as how you price out resto jobs and especially chinking. I've been in buisness for a fair number of years now and just thought it would be interesting to see how my pricing compares to otheres in the industry , it seems to be a closely guarded secret by most of the larger log resto companies. If anyone would like to share any info with me in Canada or the US , please email me @ jwalker@kootenay.com , any info would be appreciated. Or we could correspond thru this forum if you don't mind sharing your info publicly. Thanks , Jim.

It's not such a huge secret. You just to need to price for your area. I think you're suppose to close 1 in 6 jobs then you know your price is right. If you get every job, then raise your price. Also you should be taking home about 20% of the job as your pay. Or if you priced a home at $5,000.00 then you would take home $1,000.00 as your pay. If you want to make a $1,000 a week, then you should finish that house+another in that week to make up for winter. So you need to set a minimum to match what you need to make to stay successful. As far as chinking goes, it all depends on the weather and how much you can stand in one spot forever. Usually needs to be priced higher than you think. At least that's what I think when i get finished with a job. There should be a minimum on chinking, say $10,000 or whatever you think you'll need.
